About international phone number formats

Every country has its own way of writing phone numbers, but modern systems expect a standard format so that numbers can be stored and dialled correctly across borders.

E.164形式: the global standard for phone numbers, always written with a leading plus sign and country calling code, for example +14155552671。
国際形式: human-friendly, includes spaces for readability, for example +1 415 555 2671。
全国フォーマット: how the number is normally written inside the country, such as (415) 555-2671。
tel: URI: used in HTML links and apps, for example tel:+1-415-555-2671。

Why do websites ask for E.164 format?

E.164 guarantees that every phone number is stored in a consistent way, with a single leading plus sign and country calling code. This prevents duplicate records and makes integrations with SMS providers and VoIP platforms much easier.

Does this tool validate that a number really exists?

The validator checks whether the number is possible and follows the numbering plan for the selected country. It does not dial or confirm that a real device is online, so treat the result as a strong format check rather than a live connectivity test.

Can I use this for bulk phone number cleaning?

This page is designed for single numbers. For bulk cleaning you can still copy the logic into your own scripts using the same open-source library, or build a custom batch tool that follows your CRM rules.
